The Struggle to Hollywood: Johnny's Frustration

Johnny’s Frustration
Johnny and his friends were struggling to make it in the acting business. They were going through their ups and downs. Shawn got his role in a running play named George Washington’s Stand. Christy got her first acting gig with a commercial in Action Gear Sneakers. Shelton was falling on his face trying to get a star role in a movie. While Johnny, he was starting to pay his dues. He got coffee for the producers, writers and directors, he built the set, but his career was going nowhere and Johnny was just plain frustrated.
Johnny was talking with his friends and said, “What the hell do I have to do to get an acting part?”
            Christy asked, “What’s wrong Johnny?”
Johnny yelled, “It’s been six months since I started into the auditions for the parts and I’ve been empty handed. I’m upset right now I could just quit this business and find something else.”
Christy said with concern, “Don’t give up on your dreams Johnny. Just because things aren’t going your way, doesn’t mean you quit. Your luck will turn around. Just stay positive.”
Johnny argued to Christy, “Easy for you to say. You got a part.”
Shawn said, “Hey, leave her alone, she’s trying to help you. Don’t be jealous because we got a part and you don’t yet. If you are like that ‘little engine that could and say I think I can’ maybe you’ll get the part.”
Johnny said, “Real funny, using a child’s book on me are you saying I need to think like a child.”
Shawn debated back, “In other words yes. As a child, you free your mind and think anything is possible. This is how you must think. Be a great visionary and envision yourself in that role that is how it’s done Johnny.”
Johnny said, “I see your point. I need to picture myself in that role. It’s like the law of attraction.”
Shelton then spoke, “Acting really isn’t my dream any more. I’m ready to quit acting. I can’t stand the reaction. I didn’t sign up for this.”
Shawn said, “Some people have the heart to withstand this business and some people don’t. I’m not going to tell you or Johnny what to do, but if you’re interested in staying in this business we will meet up at Michael’s Pub. That’s how we will find out who is serious about staying in this business.”
Shawn left Johnny and Shelton with an ultimatum. Were they going to return to Michael’s Pub one month from now or was this going to be the last time they would see each other? Was stress going to get to them and they would quit or would they persevere and stay in the acting business? Shawn and Christy were going to find out.
